Coasters Wagon Master

Born at Port Coquitlam in March of 1949 where we had a Family dairy farm. While going to high school I worked at the local A&W restaurant and was offered a job as a relief manager for the chain. I worked all over Vancouver Island and the lower mainland. In 1969 I was sent to work in Haney where I met Dorothy, two years later we were married and have four children, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.

After managing restaurants, a neighbourhood pub an owning and selling our own restaurant. I took a job with the Pattison Group as a Graffiti inspector on the BC Transit system including the then new Skytrain. I joined the Mission Volunteer Fire Department where I served for a total of 9 years, during this time I was recruited by the BC Ambulance Service and spent 30 years as a licenced Paramedic retiring after the Olympic project in 2010. I still do volunteer medical work for Habitat for Humanity (world) building teams and for other traveling youth groups. This has given me the opportunity to travel in remote areas of South and Central America as well as Vietnam and China. I do one or two of these trips a year.

I am currently the President of the Fraser Valley Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada, and have served on three different occasions totaling 7 yrs. as President. I’ve enjoyed the membership since 1997. I was the Swap meet chairman for many years as well as other positions in the club. Dorothy and I traveled on the 2000 Coast to Coast tour and were Wagon Masters on the 2010 and 2017 tours. I sit as the Vice President of the 10-7 Ambulance Paramedics Society and also store and care for two of the Ambulance Paramedic’s vintage ambulances. My own 1969 Pontiac ambulance is a traveling museum of original ambulance equipment; it does fund raising events and shows throughout the Province and has travelled from BC to Newfoundland and back three times without mechanical problems.  I also own a 1948 Chevrolet Panel ambulance that served the mine and community of Kimberly. I have various other cars in my old car fleet.
