Report by Cam Hutchins, John Carlson and Bob Ford Jr.

The 9th Annual Cobble Beach Concours d Elegance took place at the beautiful Cobble Beach Resort on the Southwest edge Georgian Bay on Sept 17, 2023. The Concours takes place near the town of Kemble Ontario, which is between
Georgian Bay and Lake Huron, a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto. The weather in September can be beautiful, and parts of the day were, but a 90-minute thunderstorm did shut down the event for a bit.

The event celebrated 120 years of Buick, the 75th anniversary of Porsche, 70th anniversary of the Corvette and the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini. The cars were lined up on the fairways next to the Clubhouse and even with the weather delay there was lots of time for the spectators and car owners to have a great time. Many members from the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada were on hand to help out with the judging.

Porsche was a sponsor again this year and there were a couple of significant Porsche’s at the show. From a private collection in Ontario was a stunning 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 “906-128”. It had won its class at the 1966 Daytona 24 hour race.

Another significant race car was the 1973 Rondel Motul F2/CanAm owned by Seann Burgess of Markdale Ontario. This car was the first of 9 F2 cars built by Ron Dennis and Neil Trundle “Rondel” in 1973. Ron and Neil met while both working for Jack Brabham on his Formula 1 team. The car is restored to its original F2 livery.

As Monty Python is famous for saying, “and now for something completely different”, a 1923 Ford “T” Altered race car owned by Scot Haviland of Wilsonville Ontario.
