Fast & Flashy Featured Classes at the 2018 Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kemble, ON (August 10, 2018) – Supercars, Muscle Cars and European Sports Cars are back on display at the 2018 Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Supercar class returns to the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year. They are fast, flashy and incredibly loud! Witness these vehicles up close and experience the amazement you had when you first laid eyes upon a Supercar. Each of these vehicles may not be “classic”, but they have staked their claim in automotive history. Although some may not be the fastest by today’s standards, these cars are defined by their state of the art technology during their production era. This year will include a 2005 Maserati MC12, one of the rarest supercars with only 50 of them ever produced.

The Muscle Car class is a featured marque at the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. These impeccably maintained and restored vehicles appeal to young and old alike. The rumble of the exhaust and the smell of the fumes is sure to make your heart race. These vehicles have often been featured in Hollywood productions, resulting in defining the Muscle Car as the epitome of cool.

European Sports Cars are the sleek, sporty and superbly styled vehicles you dreamed of one day owning. Some of the finest examples of these works of automotive art will be displayed at this year’s Concours.

The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance hosts various classes of cars, from the pre-1916 Horseless Carriage to Vintage Motorcycles to Supercars. A HISTORY OF REFINEMENT

Derived from the French term meaning a competition of elegance, the Concours d’Elegance has a history story dating back to 17th Century French society. THE GENESIS OF THE COBBLE BEACH

CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE

In early 1998 Mr. Willis McLeese was approached by Ms. Dorothy Telford, a local real estate agent and board member of Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians (GRACE), to consider purchasing a spectacular 574-acre property just north of Owen Sound, the present day Cobble Beach. After reviewing the site, which slopes away from Grey County Road #1 approximately 250 feet to Georgian Bay below, Willis’ 85 year old mind starting racing with all the possibilities.

Willis and his son, Rob, could see that a wonderful promenade of high end, beautiful antique and classic cars parading down Cobble Beach Drive to the elegant Clubhouse would be a magnificent and magical sight not only for those viewing the automobiles but for those also driving vehicles. This gave birth to the conception of a Concours d’Elegance at Cobble Beach.

In 2011, Mr. Joseph Sulpizi, CEO and Founder of The Brand Factory, introduced Mr. Billy Smilovsky of Engineered Automotive to Mr. Rob McLeese, CEO and co-creator of Cobble Beach. With a shared vision of producing a Concours d’Elegance at Cobble Beach, they have fulfilled a dream of Willis McLeese and, consequently, a dream of their own.
