by Cam Hutchins and JJ Carlson
If you are reading this report it is likely you are interested in cars and the importance of classic cars and the car hobby in general. The Golfing world really put the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance and us Carnuts in our place. The Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance has been held on the third Sunday of August for eons….but because some golfers wanted to hold a “tourney” on that weekend the whole “Car Week” comprising of at least 20 events moved to the fourth weekend. I guess there is more to Golf than meets the eye.
2018 68th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
Report by Rob McLeese
August 26, 2018 What started as a very foggy, humid cool morning at 5:30 am ended up being a scorcher by 11:30 am. The cars loading onto the field as usual were spectacular with most of them being greeted on the entry hill by Barry Meguiar, yes of Meguiar polishing fame and later at the entrance to the show field by Sandra Button, Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours.

The NAACC is once again planning to cover the Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance for 2019. The Concours is more than ever in the forefront of the Canadian Car community after the Best of Show winner 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta was restored by Canadians. Another Canadian car came third in Class N1: OSCA Pre1955. Dario Calandra of White Rock BC 1952 OSCA MT4 Prototype Frua Spider is another in the long line of Canadian owned or restored cars that have down well on the 18th Fairway of the fabled Pebble Beach links.

Report and Photos by Cam Hutchins
There are very few things that I spring out of bed at 4:30 a.m. bright eyed and busy tailed. No, I am not worried about a Hagerty’s Dawn Patrol hat, which should be called the “Two hours before Dawn Patrol Hat” as they have long been handed out before Dawn. What I am interested in is getting shots of the cars as they drive onto the field with the ocean in the background.

2016 Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance
Report by Cam Hutchins
The 66th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance was held on August 21st 2016. I arrived early enough to get a great spot to shoot the cars as they enter the field. The ocean in the background and the nice even light was great. Especially impressive was the cars were clean and not covered with ash like every other car on the peninsula.

The 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance was held on August 16th 2015 and was the first time I had seen the sunrise at the event. Held on the 18th Farirway of the fabled Pebble
Beach golf course, the morning mist was absent this year allowing for a golden sunrise to light some of the greatest cars in the world.

2013 Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance
This past August I was lucky enough to get to go to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Carmel. Of all the events that take place during “Car Week” on the Carmel/Montery Peninsula in California none are older or more prestigious than the Pebble Beach Concours D Elegance. This year was the 63rd year of the event and although cars came from all over the world, some very important Canadian connections were evident this year.
