Those that attended the Arizona Concours in January were treated to a stunning and rare collection of vintage exotics, supercars and period racecars. An exciting group of European and American Classics graced the lush green parklike lawns. A special Class of early motorcycles was displayed along with a blast from the past of period Beach Cars. Meyers Manx on the same show field with Mercedes 300SL Roadsters and Gullwings, 1930’s Auburn Boattails, Duesenberg’s and Jaguar C and D Type Roadsters and Mercedes 540 K’s were sprinkled across the manicured lawns like sparkling diamonds. It was truly a site to see. I was told that 2027 will be equally as special, as Co-Chairman Chuck Stanford Jr. has already accepted a significant number of exceptional exotic Classics and sports and racing vehicles.
The Concours is a curated and judged exhibition of the world’s finest collector cars. The Arizona Concours d’Elegance is a celebration of automotive design, supporting the arts and local artists. This event was presented in partnership with Scottsdale Arts.
The Concours uses approximately 60 handpicked judges from across the USA, Europe and Canada. The International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) icjag.international is the basis for judging this ‘World Class’ event. Judges use an established 100 Point judging format to verify authenticity and correctness and then offer up to 3 additional ‘factor points’ that may be added to the scores for Elegance, Presence and Provenance. This is the same judging system that both the Pebble Beach Concours and Cobble Beach Concours use. This show is a contest of Elegance coupled with correctness. These extra points are often the deciding factor that determine the winners. This year there were many 100 point vehicles displayed at the Concours. Please take the time to view the winners on YouTube and Facebook.
