The Central Fraser Valley chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada held their 7th annual car show at the Aldergrove High School in late April. The weather was great and 200 cars had arrived by 9:30 a.m. and they kept coming until the lot was full to capacity. Plans for opening up the field next year are in the works.

Regan Lewis, former chapter President took over the chairmanship of the show from John Jackman who had spearheaded the show since it’s inception. A long list of volunteers made this show possible and the Central Fraser Valley chapter has a many members who step up and help out. John Jackman drove hi 1970 Dodge A-100 5 window Cab over pickup with 225 cu.in. slant 6 and three on the tree.

The show posters featured Mike McVay’s 1928 Pontiac Sedan which was restored and owned by Frank Stirling before he sadly passed away a decade ago. This Pontiac features a little sign on the rear fender stating this car has 4-wheel brakes to warn all those behind that this car can actually STOP! What a novelty for 1929!

There was a 1926 Hupmobile sitting beside a Ford Model A Tudor Hot Rod. Only 2000 1962 Buick Wildcat 2 door hardtop coupes were made and the one at the show was built at the Southgate assembly plant in Los Angeles.

They had a variety of 100+ year old farm engines on display and they were almost all running. Iron Man Les McGurly showed up late, but he was in Emergency till just a few hours before the show, so he gets a pass. Nothing gets in the way of his Killer Plymouth Cuda and it’s owner. He has already shown it at the Portland Roadster show and the Grand National Roadster show this year. Built some of the best talent in the lower mainland, fellow Photographer and man of many talents, Ken Sanders made the cool 528 Hemi badge for the back of this wicked Cuda.

Terry Johnson (one of the inaugural Las Vegas Concours Judges) had his great old COE Ford F500 Flatdeck with a beautifully restored Diana on the deck. The variety of cars was large with a few clubs showing up with many of their members cars. Being an “Old Country Car Show” perhaps the large amount of trucks was fitting.  From a 1972 GMC Jimmy 4×4 to an unrestored Ford F-600 flatdeck.
