The NAACC is a longtime member of the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). We pay significate membership dues (over $700 per year) to be an associate member of this group so that we can keep ourselves and you informed about what is happening in Canada with regards to motor vehicle safety concerns and potential restrictive legislation.
The Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) is an incorporated body, whose members have responsibility for the administration, regulation and control of motor vehicle transportation and highway safety in Canada.
Conrad LeLièvre, NAACC Vice president and Nova Scotia Director looks after this NAACC portfolio. Conrad travels to the various Canada wide meetings on your behalf. Most of his travel costs are looked after by your NAACC annual dues. He reports back to the NAACC Board so that you and the NAACC are kept informed about pending changes to Canadian motor vehicle legislation as well as upcoming safety concerns that might affect the Collector Car and Motorcycle movement in Canada. CCMTA’s owners are Canada’s 14 provincial, territorial and federal governments, responsible for transportation and highway safety.
Mandate
Active in road safety for over 85 years, CCMTA’S role is to:
- Respond to specific requests made by the Council of Ministers Responsible for Transportation and Highway Safety and advise and make recommendations to members as appropriate.
- Encourage and foster Pan-Canadian uniformity and regulatory cooperation to the extent possible.
- Identify and address national road safety concerns and conduct research that supports members.
- Develop and maintain Pan-Canadian and International agreements.
- Exchange knowledge and data, using technology, to support members’ needs.
Leadership
The Membership of the Corporation consists of Canada’s fourteen (14) Provincial, Federal and Territorial Governments, each is represented by an individual appointed from among such Governments’ departments, commissions, agencies, or crown corporations charged with the administration, regulation or control of transportation and highway safety.
Often NAACC members ask what do they receive by being a member of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada. This is just one small example of what the NAACC does for you and the collector vehicle hobby in Canada. We also monitor Hansard weekly to keep track of proposed restrictive legislation. Obviously, there are many time- consuming hours involved. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Conrad LeLièvre for his dedication and efforts in working with the CCMTA over these many years. Conrad is an unsung hero that along with many other NAACC Directors receives very little thanks for his countless hours of work on your behalf. On behalf of the NAACC Board, thank you Conrad, you make a difference!
You should also know that the NAACC has been working very closely with the International Chief Judge Advisory Group. ICJAG has developed a complete set of Concours Judging guidelines complete with downloadable judging sheets and a complete overview for handling Concours judging. The ICJAG website may be found at icjag.international Please take the time to view the ICJAG Panel and Board. This group is partnered with the NAACC. The organization provides mentorship across Canada the USA and Europe. Canada’s own world class Concours, the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance, that takes place in Owen Sound Ontario every September is an ICJAG Plus show. In closing, please allow me to thank all of the NAACC Board members for their dedication and their donation of hundreds of hours of time so that we all can enjoy driving our classic motorcycles and collector cars on the public highways.
My warmest regards,
John Carlson
