ELIZABETH THE SECOND, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom,
Canada and Her other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the
Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith

To all to whom these presents shall come – Greeting

WHEREAS the provincial government wishes to designate the month of July as  Automotive Heritage Month as a way to publicly acknowledge the present and past contributions of the collector vehicle community to the economic, social and
cultural development of British Columbia, and

WHEREAS the collector vehicle community continues to play an important role in the economic, social and cultural-political life of British Columbians, donating profits from provincial fundraising efforts to local charities, hospitals,
seniors programs and school projects, including breakfast programs and bursaries, and

WHEREAS British Columbia is home to many individuals who restore, modify, display, drive and collect historic vehicles while representing and learning from other traditions, and fostering an appreciation of automotive heritage will leave a
legacy of understanding and enjoyment for future generations, and

WHEREAS recognition of and respect for automotive enthusiasts encourages richer encounters between automotive enthusiasts in British Columbia, in Canada and worldwide, and

WHEREAS it is believed that the people of British Columbia would wish to observe July as a month that acknowledges the essential contributions of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada (NAACC) and the Specialty Vehicle
Association of BC (SVABC) to the success of this province;

NOW KNOW YE THAT We do by these presents proclaim and declare that July 2020 shall be known as

“Automotive Heritage Month”

and July 10 and 11, 2020, shall be known as

“Collector Car Appreciation Days”

in the Province of British Columbia.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent and the Great Seal of Our Province of British Columbia to be hereunto affixed.

WITNESS, The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of Our Province of British Columbia, in Our City of Victoria, in Our Province, this third day of July, two thousand twenty and in the sixty-ninth year of Our Reign.

NOW KNOW YE THAT, We do by these presents proclaim and declare that the month of July 2018 shall be known as

“Automotive Heritage Month”

and July 13, 2018 shall be known as

“International Collector Car Appreciation Day”

in the Province of British Columbia.

Province of British Columbia Proclaims July 2020 as “Automotive Heritage Month”

Thanks to the efforts of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada (NAACC) , the province of British Columbia is once again declaring the month of July as “Automotive Heritage Month.”  The province also proclaimed “Collector Car Appreciation Days” (CCAD) on July 10-11, 2020.  British Columbia joins several other provinces that have officially recognized the celebration.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Congress introduced two resolutions recognizing “Collector Car Appreciation Day” on Friday, July 10, at the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN).  Each Congressional resolution acknowledges the day’s significance in raising awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.  The date marked the 11th commemoration of what has become an annual event.

Special thanks to the thousands of enthusiasts that gathered at car cruises, parades and other events to celebrate our automotive heritage.  By taking part in events across North America, these automotive enthusiasts and related businesses have ensured that their passion was honored and recognized.
