RM Auction Monterey 2022
Car week was, and is a crazy time to be a carnut! You can’t do it all. We tried to get to the RM auctions and always seemed to be there too late or we were just somewhere else. But the Auction preview we go to see from the outside was outstanding….and these were the cars they left outside!

Canadian Content at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d Elegance
The 2022 Pebble Beach Concours D Elegance was again the epitome of car shows and really did set the standard for car shows around the world. Of special note are at least 4 cars with a Canadian connections if not out right owned by Canadians. First off is the superb restoration and presentation of the 1963 Shelby Cobra Team Race Car.

The Hot Rod Reunion of BC was held August 27th in the pits at the 18-acre Mission Raceway Park, a fully sanctioned drag strip with a three-kilometer-long motocross course an hour east of downtown Vancouver. This was the most historical and largest specialty vehicle

2022 Northwest Deuce Days
“As this is the 10th edition of Northwest Deuce Days, we are very proud of how it has progressed over the last 24 years. Judi and I have been trying to retire from organizing the event but are very happy with Destination Greater Victoria and Jay Donovan taking on the challenge. It has been a great ride and we look forward to many more Deuce Days to come.”
Sincerely,
Al Clark

Crescent Beach Concours d’ Elegance
I spent Saturday morning at the Crescent Beach Concours D Elegance and was blown away by many of the cars. The Triumph Italia was one of my favourites, basically a TR-3 chassis rebodied by Vignale for the Italian Importer who felt the Italians would not buy a car without roll up windows and modern amenities. The cars styling obviously heavily influenced the boxy Triumph TR4 styling.

Cobble Beach Concours d’ Elegance
THE GENESIS OF THE COBBLE BEACH
CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
In early 1998 Mr. Willis McLeese was approached by Ms. Dorothy Telford, a local real estate agent and board member of Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Equestrians (GRACE), to consider purchasing a spectacular 574-acre property just north of Owen Sound, the present day Cobble Beach.
68th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
August 26, 2018
Report by Rob McLeese
What started as a very foggy, humid cool morning at 5:30 am ended up being a scorcher by 11:30 am. The cars loading onto the field as usual were spectacular with most of them being greeted on the entry hill by Barry Meguiar, yes of Meguiar polishing fame and later at the entrance to the show field by Sandra Button, Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours.

Concours of America Plymouth Mi July 27, 2018
Last year the Eastern NAACC journalism team made Their annual pilgrimage down to Concours of America.
One of the themes of the 2018 show was Cars of the Jet Age which included the General Motors Firebirds I, II and III, all developed in the 1950’s by Harley Earl and his team. These cars were far ahead of the era in terms of the technology that was included in them.
Use of the International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) judging process
Serious meaningful Concours Judging recommendation:
The use of the ICJAG forms and guidelines are most effective when supported by an experienced chief judge and knowledgeable chief class judges. However, the first step is the introductory use of the ICJAG basic judging form which provides for fair and consistent judging of all concours entries.

Everything is coming together for the 2022 Cross Canada tour. Now is the time to get your ideas and suggestions in as soon it will be to late to make changes. I’ve worked out a proposed travel route and will go over it with John Carlson in the near future. The National, NAACC, would like to be more involved in the planning process and Dorothy and I welcome their input.
2018 Cobble Beach Concours report by Bob Ford Jr.
Again, in 2018 I had the honour of being invited to judge at the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. I was thrilled, to say the least, because this is one of only a couple of Concours shows in Canada and is said to be the best! The show takes place on the 18th green of the Cobble Beach Golf and Country Club overlooking Georgian Bay on Lake Huron – a beautifully location to feature some of the best cars in North America.
The 2018 Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance Report and photos by Rob McLeese
This past September the Cobble Beach Golf Resort Community hosted its 6th annual Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This extraordinary automotive weekend kick started on Friday evening with a cocktail reception at the Cobble Beach Lighthouse where some lovely 40 and 50 foot yachts were bobbing gently in the breeze at the adjacent dock.

By Rob McLeese
On August 25, 2018, Rob McLeese Eastern correspondent for the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada (NAACC) and Cory Haggar, photographer for the NAACC made our way to the beautiful hills at the Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California for the 2018 Concorso Italiano. It was another beautiful sunny California day.

Concorso Italiano
Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey Bay California, Concorso Italiano will once again be a key part the traditional Monterey Automobile Week. Concorso Italiano’s unique format features more than 800 – 1000 vehicles of Italian origin, and its atmosphere is on the vehicles on display, conversations between people who love and appreciate them, and elements of Italian style such as fashion, food, music and art – all of this on the beautiful grounds of the Black Horse Golf Club.

LeMay Museum
The cars are all what is commonly known as “Detroit iron” from the hay-day of U.S. auto dominance, the 1950s and 1960s. They are: a 1957 Chevy Nomad, the stylish 2-door station wagon that has become an icon of design; a 1961 Chrysler 300G, the high performance version of that big, brash, massively-finned luxury car: and a 1966 Mustang, the first generation of the car that created a whole new segment in the market beginning the “pony car” trend.

2016 Pacific North West Deuce Days
Every three years the streets around the inner harbour, the British Columbia Parliament Buildings and the venerable Empress Hotel are filled with classic cars and more than a third of them are 1932 Fords of all models and descriptions.
The 1932 Ford, nicknamed the “Deuce”, holds a special place in many hot rodders and car collector‘s hearts. The first year an affordable V-8 engine was offered to the public, the Ford V8 replaced the Model A and the Model T as America’s sweetheart and they still hold they spot all these years later.
