The 2022 Pebble Beach Concours D Elegance was again the epitome of car shows and really did set the standard for car shows around the world. Of special note are at least 4 cars with a Canadian connections if not out right owned by Canadians. First off is the superb restoration and presentation of the 1963 Shelby Cobra Team Race Car, that was once driven by Shelby great, Dave MacDonald. Dave’s son Rich was one had to see the car unveiled at the show. This Cobra came in second in the Postwar Racing Class O-1 to a stellar 1953 Aston Martin DB3S Race Car from Scotland.

First place in the Postwar Touring Closed class O-3 was won by Nigel Churcher of Toronto, with his 1949 Lancia Aprilla Ghia Supergioiello Coupè. The Postwar Touring Open class was won by an Intermeccanica car and of course Intermeccanica was based in Vancouver for decades after this first place winning 1963 Apollo 3500GT Intermeccanica Spyder was built. The second place winner in this class, a 1955 Maserati A6GCS Frua Spyder, was restored by RX Auto Works of North Vancouver who also presented it for Jonathan & Wendy Segal, San Diego.

Also shown this year was the Duesenberg formally owned by Ladner’s John Dart and is one of three Duesenberg’s sold new in Canada.
