July is Automotive Heritage Month in British Columbia
The NAACC is pleased to announce that once again the month of July is set aside as Automotive Heritage Month in British Columbia and July 14th as Collector Car Appreciation Day in British Columbia.

To all to whom these presents shall come -- Greeting
WHEREAS the Provincial Government wishes to designate the month of July as National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada Automotive Heritage Month as a way to publicly acknowledge the present and past contributions of Canadians to the economic, social and cultural development of British Columbia, and
WHEREAS the collector vehicle community continues to play an important role in the economic, social and cultural political life of British Columbia, and
WHEREAS British Columbia is home to many individuals who restore, modify, display, drive and collect historic vehicles while representing and learning from other traditions, and
WHEREAS fostering an appreciation of automotive heritage leaves a legacy of understanding and enjoyment for future generations, and
WHEREAS recognition and respect of automotive enthusiasts encourages richer encounters between automotive enthusiasts worldwide and between Canadians and other British Columbians, and
WHEREAS it is believed that all residents of British Columbia would wish to observe July, 2017 as Automotive Heritage Month; a month that acknowledges the essential role of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada to the success of our province, and declares July 14, 2017 as Collector Car Appreciation Day in British Columbia.
WHEREAS Our Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, has been pleased to enact Order in Council ____on _____, 2017;
NOW KNOW YE THAT We do by these presents proclaim and declare that the month of July, 2017 shall be known as
“Automotive Heritage Month”
In the Province of British Columbia.

Collector Car Appreciation Day IN BC 2014
Former superintendent of motor vehicles petitioned government to recognize fundraising efforts of car clubs

Hear ye, hear ye: Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, now know ye that July 12 and the month of July, 2014 shall be known as Collector Car Appreciation Day and Month.
This declaration is so witnessed by the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lt.-Gov. of B.C. and Suzanne Anton, Attorney General on the sixth day of February 2014.
If you owned a car or held a driver’s licence in B.C. during the 1980s and into the 1990s, you know the name of the man who spearheaded this proclamation. Keith Jackman is the retired superintendent of motor vehicles and his signature was on every licence, registration and permit issued in B.C. for a dozen years.
